Encaustic Art BASICS online course is now in SWEDISH!!
The Encaustic Art BASICS course is now available in Swedish language. First was English language, with videos created by Michael and Study Focus units compiled by Wemke. Then Dutch, translated by Wemke, enjoyed by many. And now, Eva Mandelqvist from Sweden has translated and made ready this amazing course in Swedish.
One step out into the world
I sit with my personal dashboard in front of me and the counter shows 300 hours. How can that be possible? In my world, time stood still and I was completely in my flow. Part of the time I’ve been devoted to being a student. I, who thought that I knew the basics of encaustic art. I, who do my own courses. I, learned a lot. Because that is exactly what is so amazing, to integrate the techniques into the body so creativity can flow freely. Learning a little at a time and having the opportunity to go back to the course constantly, brings new perspectives. To first try and imitate is the path to your own expression.
A lot of hours have also been spent on translating the course into Swedish. If you only knew how many words used, that don´t exist in Swedish. Sometimes I invented my own words. But that hasn´t been the big challenge. The major challenge has been to study the course in detail, without giving myself permission to use my iron. It required discipline I can promise. But if I had allowed it, there wouldn´t been a Swedish course this spring.
Getting the opportunity to collaborate with Encaustic House is almost unreal. Ever since I started painting a number of years ago, I had a great role model in Michael, almost a guru (but don´t tell him). His landscapes captivated me and I´ve spent many hours studying both pictures and videos, to me he has always been King of the Iron. But then I got a hotplate a few years ago and started looking for inspiration and found Wemke – The Queen of Hotplate (iron as well). So you understand what kingdom I have access to. Not only are they fantastic Encaustic Artists and inspirers, they have a view of life that I fully agree on – TO SHARE.
To help spread this fantastic artform in Sweden is a mission for me. Why? Well, for me, encaustic is healing and development, and a fantastic tool for creativity. Creativity is like a dance between chaos and structure, to switch between thinking and not thinking. And the fuel is passion. Finding passion is the key to discovering talents, abilities and goals. So how can you not just love to paint with encaustic’s beautiful color spectra and disappear into the images and find more images. Layers by layers. What a discovery.
So follow your passion and it will lead your heart to create and to meet likeminded people. And don´t forget to share, that is the spark that wakes someone else´s passion.
